Is there any way to backup vmware machines via ESX directly without VC

Hello,

We are running Netbackup 7.6.0.2 Windows Master Server 2008 R2 SP1, and all our media server is Appliances 5320 with version 2.6.0.4 and netbbackup version with 7.6.0.4.

Recently, we experienced a lot of network losts between the Appliance Backup host to the VC that charge of all the ESX servers in the VM environment.

As a result of this, I am looking for other way to backup all the VM Machines without using the VC, I heard that there is a way to create proxy server that will manage all my backups, and the backups will go through the ESX server directly.

Is anyone did it before and can help how to configure that, or know a good guid with step by step to configure this ?
